Dangers of sitting with legs crossed
The mystrey behind this sitting posture is ackward.Just look at this lady with her crossed slender legs. Is he not an epitome of beauty,feminity and elegance but wait.Do you know this sitting position (x crossing a knee over the other) is HAZARDOUS if its maintained for a long time.Yes,I said it.This has been proven by the latest scientific research. Now this is what it can cause.
1) PALSY (PERONEAL NERVE PARALYSIS)
Peroneal nerve paralysis is a paralysis on common fibular nerve that affects patient's ability to lift the foot at the ankle.
Now this condition can be caused by this sitting position if its maintained for a long time over a continuous period of time.
2)INCREASED BLOOD PRESSURE
Scientist recently discovered that this sitting position also causes increased blood pressure. Let me explain:-
This position increases the isometric exercise of the leg ( unlike when you cross your leg at the ankle) in the same vein increasing the resistance to blood flow and increasing the pressure at which the heart pumps blood.
3) PELVIC IMBALANCE
Sitting for long in this position contracts the inner thigh muscles and indirectly stretches the outer thigh muscles which may result in joint problems and pelvic imbalance
4) VARICOSE VEINS
(apart from genetic conditions) Varicose veins are small valves in the veins that prevent the backward flow of blood and sitting in this position contracts the muscles thereby increasing the varicose veins and accidentally increasing backward flow.
5) NECK PAIN
This position in conjunction with a bad sitting posture does more harm than good and latest research has shown that crossing legs for a period of 3 hours can cause neck pain, stooped back, spinal discomfort and a load of others .
So I know this position is highly classical and 😍😍 but for your own good don't maintain this position for a long time and crossing at the ankles is preferable.
